Crash Test Dummies are being 3D Printed Larger to Reflect the Average Person

Crash test dummies have traditionally had athletic and slim builds. In America, where a third of the adult population is overweight, this doesn't reflect the average person. Researchers at University of Michigan recreated crash test dummies to reflect an array of body types, including a 273lb obese dummy and a 70 year old obese female dummy. This is necessary since your body type determines how much a crash affects you, with larger people having an increased likelihood to experience a fatal car crash.
