L'Oreal Plans to 3-D Print Human Skin

3D Printing

The cosmetics company L’Oreal is currently planning to 3-D print human skin utilizing bioprinters that will be able to print nickel-sized samples of skin. Printing skin will allow for more accurate tests, and can also be used for burn care. By placing healthy 3-D printed skin cells on a large burn, they will be able to grow organically over the wound. The samples will also be used to see how the ingredients in L’Oreal products react with skin. This technology will be used primarily for research purposes.
