A new patent recently submitted by Amazon shows a new technology that would enable a customer to order a product, which would then set off an automated process that would 3D print the desired item.The customer would order an item, and then a pre-produced set of digital instructions would be programmed into the 3D printer inside of a delivery truck, which would enable the item to be produced while en route to the consumer’s home, within hours of the initial order.

This new system is supposed to help decrease the need for warehouse space and also decrease the amount of time it takes for a consumer to receive their product.
