Pew: U.S. Adult Gadget Ownership Statistics

October 18, 2013 - According to the latest figures from the Pew Internet Project’s research related to mobile technology:
- 91% of American adults have a cell phone
- 56% of American adults have a smartphone
- 28% of cell owners own an Android; 25% own an iPhone; 4% own a Blackberry
- 35% of Americans ages 16 and older own a tablet computer
- 24% of Americans ages 16 and older own an e-reader

About: The tablet/e-reader survey by the Pew Research Center’s Internet Project which was conducted from July 18 to September 20, 1013 among 6,224 Americans ages 16 and older. The margin of error is ±1.4 percentage points. Interviews were conducted via landline (nLL=3,122) and cell phone (nC=3,102, including 1,588 without a landline phone). The survey was conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates International. The interviews were administered in English and Spanish by Princeton Data Source. The cell phone survey took place between April 17 and May 19, 2013. The results based on the 2,252 internet users have a margin of sampling error of ±2.3 percentage points. Statistical results are weighted to correct known demographic discrepancies.
